I AM A CLICHE wins BIFA for Best Documentary & BAFTA Nomination

Poly Styrene: I Am a Cliché has been awarded a British Independent Film Award for Best Documentary and the Raindance Discovery Award, as well as being nominated for a Scottish BAFTA and Grierson Award for Best Documentary.


The Sky Arts documentary is an intimate portrait of punk icon Poly Styrene told by her daughter Celeste Bell, who embarks on a journey through her mother’s archive, conveying her legacy, her demons and unwittingly the misogyny, racism and mental illness that plagued her and the impact this had on her relationship with her mother. Co-directed by Paul Sng and Celeste Bell. Diary entries read by Oscar nominee Ruth Negga.
