Kopschuif
Drama | Cie Tartaren
Dir. Roel Goyens
In the world of Bas, the voices desperately trying to contact him mostly amount to mere background noise. Gagged attempts sometimes breach the decaying rooms he inhabits but they fail to tear down the walls surrounding him. That leaves Bas adrift in a twilight zone between delusion and reality, between response and isolation.
Kopschuif is a unique collaboration between Roel Goyens and social-artistic theatre company Tartaren. Informed by the psychiatric past of his actors and many conversations with specialists, the director submerges the audience in a surreal world that for some tormented souls might be grim reality. In a place where communication is a challenge, Kopschuif thereby encourages a debate that brings together the patient, mental therapists and the film's audience.
